Is Your Discipline Style Different Than Your Mom's? | Season 2 Episode 52

What kind of communicator are you with your kids? Are you a screamer or ignoring Mom? How you grew up can determine certain traits that may need to be broken within yourself, only if you recognize them.

I was having a conversation a few days ago with another mom, and it occurred to me that when it comes to us moms and how we have been raised, one of the dysfunctions that can carry down through the generations is discipline.

Give yourself grace. Rules change as your kids get older. Every day brings a new perspective and it can be confusing and exhausting. You are doing the best you can, and if you are putting in the work to search out new ideas and parenting skills you will be better with time.

Being understanding and loving, especially during the heat of the moment will set the stage for your child feeling safe and wanting to do better with you.
